Tap into the future: The top tapware trends to watch in 2024/25
Your choice of tapware can make or break a kitchen or bathroom renovation. And while it’s always best not to blindly follow trends, it can be useful to look at what’s trending for inspiration.
To get you started we’ve scoured trade shows and design houses to find the top tapware trends of 2024 and 2025.
Brushed metal tapware
Tapware used to be all about the shine, with most preferring chrome or stainless steel. But in 2024 and 2025 brushed stainless, nickel and brass will be more popular, adding a minimalist, understated edge to any bathroom or kitchen design.
Functionality is key
After the pandemic we’ve all started eating at home more often, and as a result kitchens and tapware have evolved to become more functional. Think kitchen taps with pull-out heads and spray functions, which swivel to cover the entire sink.
Wall-mounted taps
We’re living in smaller homes these days, and our kitchens are shrinking. Wall-mounted taps are a great idea for saving bench space and making everything a little easier to clean.
Wellness features in bathrooms
Australians are looking for spa experiences at home, especially in their bathrooms. That’s why in 2024 and 2025 we expect to see a rise in the popularity of luxury showers and baths. Think freestanding bathtubs, double-headed showers with rainfall features and even built-in shower ledges for sitting.
Matte is back
Matte black is the ultimate modern, minimalist choice for bathroom and kitchen tapware in 2024 and beyond, but it should be used with caution. This tapware finish works best in understated, modern kitchens, with monotone colour schemes – think whites, blacks and muted beiges.
Texture is in
Tapware doesn’t always have to look or feel the same. In fact, new tapware in 2024 and 2025 often features textural elements – including dimpled metal handles and indented spouts that create an interesting look.
Traditional looks still work
Certain looks are timeless for a reason, and nothing will change that in the near future. Heritage tapware from quality brands still look incredible when installed in tasteful, classic bathroom and kitchen spaces – especially if they feature warm tones such as brass and gold.
