Minimalistic Kitchens – How to Create the Look?
Are you dreaming of a kitchen with clean lines, that is easy to clean and one that is multi-functional? A minimalistic kitchen design is for you! Let us take you through how to achieve this look with some design ideas as well as using Abey Australia’s Kitchen Collection products.
1. Multifunctional
One of the main design considerations for a minimalist kitchen is to make sure it is multifunctional. To do this, it is important to plan your kitchen wisely. For instance, when purchasing a kitchen sink, you need to make the most of the sink accessories that are available to use with your sink. Sink Accessories such as chopping boards, drainers and covers are the perfect way to add extra bench space, hide clutter and create a seamless look.
2. Colour
The colour palette of your kitchen is also important. A minimalistic kitchen’s colour scheme is usually monochrome with the use of matt colours. We have an immense range of products in shades of black, white and grey that fit this style. For instance, our Schock sinks are available in black, white and concrete. We also have kitchen tapware in our GESSI, Armando Vicario and Gareth Ashton ranges that comes in black, brushed chrome and white finishes.
3. Material
When choosing kitchen cabinets and materials, a minimalist style calls for natural elements of wood, concrete and granite in earthy colours. Again, black, whites and greys are a colour palette that will define its look. We recommend working with an interior designer or reputable kitchen manufacturer to bring the complete look together.
4. Storage
Storage should also be optimised. During the design process it is important to review the layout to ensure there are plenty of cupboards. Having appliances like the microwave, fridge and dishwasher hidden within the cabinets is a great tip for executing a minimalist kitchen. Better still, for those with space, installing a butler’s pantry is the perfect solution to gain extra storage space.
When styling a minimalist kitchen, less is more. Use your monochrome palette with shapes that are timeless. For instance, plates on display should be in classic shapes and with no modern details on them. Small appliances should be hidden away. Bench space should be clear and clean, so they become the focus of the kitchen.
