7 on-trend bathroom makeover ideas: From tubs to tiles
There’s nothing like a hot shower to start the day or a pampering session and relaxing soak in the bath to end it. And these little luxuries are always better enjoyed in a beautifully renovated, on-trend bathroom.
To help get you inspired for your bathroom makeover we’ve compiled 7 on trend ideas.
1. Free-standing tubs
Nothing says spa-like luxury quite like a free-standing bath tub. Choose the right one and it’ll act as a sculpture, adding a touch of luxury to your bathroom – as well as being an amazing place to soak after a long day.
Abey stock a lavish range of luxurious freestanding baths but our favourite is the Gareth Ashton Barwon ClearStone Gloss Tear Drop bath. Its gorgeous droplet shape, and attractive gloss finish make it the perfect luxe addition to your bathroom.
2. Luxurious showers
There are two types of people. Those who take their time in the shower and those who rush in and out. If you like to take it slow, a luxurious showerhead is a worthwhile investment. Something with a rain and waterfall effect like the Gareth Ashton vertical shower could be perfect.
3. Organic materials
Bathrooms in Australian homes tend to be a little samesy. Lots of white tiles, stainless steel fittings and white vanities. The current trend for warmer, less standard, organic materials bucks that longstanding design for something a bit more interesting.
Why not try a rich wooden vanity with a live edge instead of a standard white one? Or perhaps a brushed brass tap instead of the standard stainless steel?
4. Real colour
In 2024 and beyond don’t be afraid to use colour in your bathroom renovation. Forget about white subway tiles and go for a rich green to create a bathroom that feels like a cosy, hideaway – or go for warm tones to create an uplifting space.
5. Greenery everywhere
Like plants? Get them into your bathroom! While renovating it’s a great idea to create spaces for your plants to go, adding a little life to your bathroom space – whether that’s a ledge up high for hanging plants or a spot in the corner for a mega monstera. Just make sure you choose plants that don’t mind a humid environment!
6. Feature lighting
Lighting can transform any space from drab to dreamy instantly. So pay special attention to the fittings you choose, the tone of your lights and their position.
Always make sure you have lights over your basin so you can see what you’re doing. Don’t be afraid to use warm lighting, instead of the usual cold LED (which tends to make a space look grey and washed out). Then, if you have the budget and it fits in with your design, consider a few wall-mounted fittings to throw extra light on your vanity area and add a little personality.
7. Separate basins
Most bathroom vanities have their bathroom basins moulded into them, but in 2024 and beyond separate basins are trending. Choose a countertop with a little character, then add a gorgeous basin, mixer and spout of your choice – now your vanity will look completely unique.
