7 kitchen trends that will be everywhere in 2025

Are you renovating your kitchen this year? We always advise going for a timeless look, but it doesn’t hurt to know what’s trending right now.

To help inspire you we’ve rounded up 7 kitchen trends that will be everywhere in 2025.

Eco-friendly appliances and fittings

If you’re changing your appliances and fittings, why wouldn’t you choose something that’s energy and environmentally friendly? There are plenty available now, from ovens, fridges and dishwashers, to taps and stovetops.

Look for appliances and fittings with energy ratings upward of four stars, like this beautiful Gareth Ashton square neck kitchen mixer

Smart kitchens

Smart technology is all about making your life easier, and it can be extremely helpful in the kitchen. You could integrate all your appliances to be voice controlled, check your fridge’s contents from the supermarket, or heat the oven up on your way home from work.

Concealed kitchens or sculleries

Everyone’s got ugly appliances that they use all the time, and it’s always good to have somewhere to hide your mess when people come over. That’s where the new trend back towards sculleries, or concealed benchtops makes so much sense.

Consider creating a small separate room within your kitchen, or closing off a section of your bench with a cupboard door. This concealed space is perfect for bulky stuff like blenders, coffee machines and mixers.

Natural light (and materials)

We’re seeing a resurgence of skylights in kitchens and big open windows that bring as much natural light in as possible. Natural materials are also favourites – stone and timber benchtops and cabinets featured in some of the most beautiful kitchens we saw in 2024 and we think they’re here to stay.

Outdoor integration

There’s something about cooking, preparing and eating food outside that’s uniquely Australian. So think about how you can integrate your indoor kitchen with your outdoor kitchen or barbeque space to make getting out there a little easier.

In 2025 we expect to see plenty of kitchen windows opening up to outdoor benches, French doors leading directly from kitchens to outside, and outdoor dining areas with easy access to indoor kitchens. If you are going to design an outdoor kitchen space, check out Abey’s range of 316 stainless steel fittings, built for use in harsh Australian environments.

Built in dining nooks

Kitchens today are trending toward non-standard design, with custom elements that are built specifically for the room they’re in. Built in dining nooks are the perfect example.

These can be built up against a wall near the kitchen to provide a built-in seating option that adds character, storage, and of course seating, to any space.

Using Australian brands

There’s been a move towards local products in most industries, and construction is no different. We’re seeing more and more kitchens using Australian brands for their kitchen renovations – and as an Australian brand, that’s a trend we can get behind. Many of our products are made right here in Melbourne, and we’ve been here for over 70 years.
